The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has been suspended by his ward over allegations of anti-party activities.
The development comes at a time when the PDP is grappling with internal crises, with divisions among key stakeholders.
The suspension was handed down by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party in Abia State.
According to sources within the party, the decision to suspend Wabara was taken during a meeting presided over by the State Chairman, Abraham Amah.
Former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, an ally to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is said to have firm control of the Abia PDP, which may have influenced the decision to suspend Wabara.
The BoT, led by Wabara, had recently backed Ude Okoye as the party’s authentic National Secretary, contrary to Wike’s preference for Samuel Anyanwu.
