PL: Man United held to 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace

Manchester United were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, despite dominating much of the game.

Key chances from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, both hitting the bar in the first half, went unconverted, leaving the Red Devils without the clinical edge needed to secure a win.

The heroics of United goalkeeper Andre Onana in the second half, particularly a stunning double save, prevented Palace from snatching their first league win of the season. The draw leaves United in 11th place, having won only two of their first five Premier League matches this season.

United’s return to Selhurst Park was a reminder of their humiliating 4-0 defeat just four months ago, a low point in a difficult season. However, Erik ten Hag’s side came into the match on the back of strong performances, including a 3-0 win over Southampton and a 7-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the League Cup.

Despite those recent successes, Marcus Rashford was surprisingly benched, with Garnacho starting on the left. The Argentine proved a constant threat early on but couldn’t apply the finishing touch, while former United keeper Dean Henderson made crucial saves to keep Palace in the game.

The result reflects United’s ongoing struggle for consistency, while Palace will be satisfied with the hard-earned point at home.
