Plateau Killings: Massive protest erupts in Jos

Fresh protests erupted in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, on Monday as residents voiced outrage over the continued loss of lives in indigenous communities, allegedly at the hands of suspected Fulani militants.
The demonstration, led by Christian leaders, including the Plateau State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Polycarp Lubo, commenced at the Fawvwei Junction community road.
The march triggered a major traffic jam, leaving many commuters stranded for hours.
This latest outcry comes in the wake of a wave of deadly attacks that have swept across parts of the state. In just the past two weeks, over 100 people have reportedly been killed in separate incidents in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas.
“We are not happy over the continuous attacks and killings by gunmen in our communities. That’s why we have come out again to protest these happenings,” one of the protesters, Gyang Dalyop, said.
Another protester, Hannatu Philip, urged the government to intervene before the situation spirals out of control.
The demonstrators, carrying placards with various inscriptions, were seen marching toward the Rayfield Government House to demand urgent security intervention.
