Police, military foil armed robbery, neutralize three suspects in Abuja

A coordinated security operation involving the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, the military, and local vigilantes resulted in the neutralization of three notorious armed robbers during a midnight gunfight in Filin-Dabo village.
The operation, launched in response to a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division at 11:50 p.m. on February 12, 2025, also left three other gang members wounded.
The injured suspects are currently receiving medical treatment under heavy security supervision.
According to the FCT Police Command, the DPO immediately alerted the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, which swiftly mobilized a joint security team. The timely intervention prevented further harm to residents and ensured the robbers were subdued.

Upon arrival at the crime scene, the security forces encountered a six-member gang attempting to flee into the bushes. The criminals, in an effort to escape, ambushed the security operatives, leading to a fierce gun battle.
Despite the gang’s efforts, superior firepower from the security forces subdued them. Three suspects, who sustained severe gunshot wounds, were rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. The remaining three are receiving treatment under security watch.
Security operatives recovered the following items from the criminals:
One (1) AK-47 rifle (breech number defaced)
Three (3) magazines
Nineteen (19) live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition
Two (2) locally made pistols
Two (2) knives
One (1) taser
One (1) mobile phone
Assorted charms (suspected for fortification)
Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
Police Commissioner’s Statement
The Commissioner of Police commended the joint security team for their swift and decisive response, emphasizing that this operation sends a strong warning to criminals that crime will not be tolerated in the FCT.
He also praised the residents of Filin-Dabo village for their cooperation and timely intelligence, which contributed to the success of the operation.
The Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
