Police nab 45-year-old man for possession of human skull in Ogun
Lekan Akinyemi, 45, has been taken into custody by the Ogun State Police in a startling occurrence for having a human skull in his possession.
The spokeswoman command, Omolola Odutola, made the announcement of the arrest on Tuesday in Abeokuta.
Akinyemi was apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adatan division. According to Odutola, the suspect allegedly exhumed the grave of the late Saubana Balogun at Isale Itoko, Abeokuta, and removed the skull for ritual purposes.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case and will begin a thorough investigation to uncover the details surrounding the incident. Odutola assured the public that the police are committed to getting to the bottom of this heinous act.
“One Lekan Akinyemi has been arrested by DPO Adatan for being in possession of a human skull. He dug the grave of the late Saubana Balogun at Isale Itoko, Abeokuta, and detached the skull. SCID will investigate,” Odutola stated.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of ritualistic practices in some parts of Nigeria, and the police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such activities to ensure public safety.
