Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper and organ harvester, Justine Emmanuel, in the Douglas area of the state.

The 38-year-old man from Ikeduru Local Government Area was apprehended during a rescue operation that saved a 19-year-old woman from a harrowing ordeal.

According to police spokesperson Henry Okoye, officers on patrol observed suspicious activity involving a blue and white bus, where Emmanuel and others were allegedly attempting to kidnap the woman for the purpose of harvesting her organs. The quick-thinking victim jumped from the moving vehicle, leading to her rescue.

“During the chase, the victim courageously jumped from the moving bus and was rescued by our operatives.

“The police gave chase, prompting the suspects to abandon the vehicle. While one suspect was arrested, others fled into the nearby bush,” Okoye said.

The police arrested Emmanuel, while other suspects fled the scene, and have launched further investigations to apprehend the remaining culprits.

The command remains committed to addressing violent crime and ensuring public safety.
