Police nabs Fulani herder for allegedly stabbing farmer in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a Fulani herder, Idris Ibrahim, for the attempted murder of a 36-year-old farmer, Adi Benedith.
SP Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the command, revealed in a statement on Sunday, December 8, 2024, that Ibrahim stabbed the victim in the stomach on his farm in Ugbaiyon village, located in the Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State.
“Following a distress call received by the Command on 03rd December 2024, that one Adi Benedith ‘m’ 36yrs was stabbed on the stomach by a Fulani herdsman at his farmland located at Ugbaiyon Village by Benin-Agbor Road, operatives of Okhuaihe Division mobilized to the scene and succeeded in arresting the herder named Idris Ibrahim ‘m’ 25yrs who attempted to flee the scene, while the injured victim was rushed to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment,” the statement read.
“The suspect admitted commission of the crime and soon will be charged to court accordingly.
