Political detractors behind my daughter’s viral video outburst – Gov Eno

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has attributed the recent viral video of his daughter, Jane Ufot, accusing him of sinister acts, to political detractors seeking to destabilize his administration.
In the clip, which resurfaced on social media this week, Ufot was seen emotionally alleging that her late mother, Patience Umo Eno, who passed away in September 2024, was sacrificed.
In the footage, she tearfully declared, “Daddy, please.
Let us talk before this thing destroys. I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not.”
She also made her daughter repeat distressing questions directed at her grandfather, suggesting a sinister family plot.
Reacting to the development on Saturday, Governor Eno dismissed the claims, insisting that the video was recorded in the aftermath of his wife’s death when emotions ran high in the family.
He further alleged that the video’s sudden reappearance was politically motivated.
“We are in political times, so you expect more of that,” Eno said. “My family is intact and the event they were talking about happened immediately after my wife passed away last year.”
“Why is it surfacing now, on the eve of our second year anniversary when we are celebrating our achievements? This means there are detractors around.”
The governor urged the public to disregard the video, explaining that the trauma of losing a loved one can take an emotional toll on families, especially children.
He appealed for sensitivity, noting that the incident had reopened old wounds.
“The pressure kids go through when they lose a loved one could be traumatic, and all I can appeal to the public is that they shouldn’t bring back sad memories,” he stated. “It is enough that I have lost my wife, and I pray they allow her peaceful soul to rest.”
Eno affirmed that his family remained united and that the distraction would not deter him from delivering good governance to the people of Akwa Ibom.
“I can’t be distracted. I remain focused and committed to serving Akwa Ibom people,” he added.
This development comes shortly after Eno’s announcement of his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move that has intensified political speculation within and outside the state.
