Premier League: Crystal Palace breaks winless streak with 1-0 win over Spurs

Crystal Palace claimed their first victory of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

Jean-Philippe Mateta netted the game’s only goal in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a well-orchestrated move after Daniel Munoz dispossessed Micky van de Ven.

Munoz’s precise cross found Eberechi Eze, whose clever flick set up Mateta for a clean finish.

Palace showed more intensity than a fatigued Tottenham side, which struggled to maintain momentum after their Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar just three days prior.

The absence of star forward Son Heung-min was evident, as Spurs lacked a cutting edge up front.

Palace could have scored more if not for Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario who made several saves, but it was Oliver Glasner’s side that sealed the three points to move up to 17th while Spurs remain in eighth place.
