PSG targets Lookman with €4.5 million per-season offer
In a move that could shake up the transfer market, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly extended a substantial offer to Nigerian international Ademola Lookman.
The French giants are said to have proposed a lucrative contract worth €4.5 million per season to entice the striker away from his current club, Atalanta.
This offer represents a significant increase from Lookman’s current salary at Atalanta, where he earns approximately €1.8 million per season.
The proposed deal would not only boost Lookman’s earnings to around €7.96 billion Nigerian Naira annually, based on an exchange rate of approximately N1,768.72 per euro, but it also promises additional financial benefits from potential match bonuses and image rights.
Lookman’s market value is currently estimated at around €40 million, highlighting his standing as a valuable asset in the football world.
According to Italian news source Calciomercato, PSG’s offer underscores their commitment to securing the talented forward, reflecting a clear desire to strengthen their squad with Lookman’s skills and potential.
“ For now, no contact has been made with Atalanta but they want a fee of at least €40 million to sell the ex-Fulham player, who seems quite interested in a move to Paris.
In a surprising turn of events, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has shifted its focus from Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman. Despite longstanding links between PSG and Osimhen, recent developments indicate that PSG has reached out to Lookman’s representatives.
Lookman, who was instrumental in Atalanta’s Europa Cup triumph over Bayer Leverkusen last season, has reportedly requested a transfer to PSG. His exclusion from Atalanta’s 4-0 defeat against Lecce in their Serie A opener has only fueled speculation about his future.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi, however, remains steadfast. When questioned about the transfer rumors surrounding Lookman and Teun Koopmeiners, who is also rumored to be seeking a move to Juventus, Percassi reaffirmed the club’s commitment to retaining its key players from the previous season.
“Last year, we had the desire to keep all our star players who were protagonists of an extraordinary season with us,” Percassi reportedly told Sky Italia. “We are calm. For the first time in our history, the idea was not to let anyone leave.
“All players are Atalanta players and will only leave on our terms.”
The 26-year-old Lookman joined the Serie A side in 2022 on a four-year till June 2026 but it’s becoming increasingly clear that Atalanta would not let that the Nigerian international go on cheap.
Lookman who turns 27 in October, scored a hat-trick in the Europa League Final against Bayer Leverkusen last season. He was purchased from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €9.35m plus bonuses.
Born and raised in London, he scored a total 32 goals with 18 assists in 79 competitive appearances for Atalanta, most recently the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Lookman, who has played 23 times for Nigeria, scored three goals in his country’s run to African Cup of Nations final over January and February.
