Purchasing presidential jet amid economic hardship is failure – Donald Duke knocks Tinubu

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for acquiring a new presidential jet while many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship.

Duke expressed his concerns during an appearance on Channels TV’s *Inside Sources* with Laolu Akande, describing the move as a “leadership failure.”

Duke argued that a leader should prioritize the welfare of the people, likening the president’s responsibilities to that of a family head. He emphasized that while Nigerians are facing tough economic conditions, the acquisition of an Airbus A330 to replace the older presidential jet sends the wrong message.

“There is no glamour in saying your people are going through hard times; it is a failure of your leadership,” Duke stated. He urged President Tinubu to view the Nigerian nation as his family, stressing that “buying a new aircraft or yacht or living large” is incongruent with the struggles faced by ordinary citizens.
