Reps make u-turn, postpones summon of Rivers Sole Administrator

The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on Rivers State oversight has postponed its planned interactive session with the Sole Administrator of the state, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
The session, initially scheduled for Thursday, was intended to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on Ibas’ activities following the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the postponement was confirmed in a statement released by House Spokesperson, Rep. Akin Rotimi, on Thursday in Abuja.
Rotimi noted that the committee acknowledged a formal request for rescheduling submitted by the Sole Administrator and assured that efforts were ongoing to fix a new date.
“In the spirit of transparent and effective oversight, the committee will promptly inform the public once the rescheduled date is confirmed,” Rotimi stated.
It will be recalled that the House had, on Tuesday, constituted a 21-member ad hoc committee chaired by Rep. Julius Ihonvbere to oversee developments related to the emergency rule in Rivers State.
