Rivers crisis: Fubara aligned himself with governorship aspirants – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is aligning himself with individuals he intends to position as his successor.
Wike made these remarks while addressing a gathering of the Kalabari people at a grand reception in Rivers State on Saturday.
His statement adds to the ongoing political tension between both leaders, following their widely reported rift over governance and political control in the state.
He faulted Fubara’s political allies, describing their advice to him as ‘bad’.
“You (Fubara) surrounded yourself with people who wanted to be governor, whom I said ‘no, these people don’t mean well for Rivers State.’ They are the ones surrounding you, giving you advice. Do you think you will succeed? They will give bad advice, and look at what bad advice is doing to you. You are already down 2-0, and there’s more to come.”
News360 Nigeria reported that Wike earlier alleged that Fubara was not an Ijaw man.
The latest outburst against Fubara followed his recent budget presentation letter to the Martins Amaewhule’s led Rivers House of Assembly.
However, the House on Friday declared an indefinite recess.
Recall that weeks ago, the Supreme Court, in a judgement delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, ordered the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to resume functions immediately.
