The Rivers State Government has declared that it will not follow the ultimatum issued by the State House of Assembly to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill.

On Monday, the Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, gave the government a 48-hour deadline after the Supreme Court reinstated the lawmakers.

In a letter dated March 5th, 2025, addressed to the Speaker, the government explained that it had not received the resolutions from the House.

The letter stated, “As at the close of work on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter.

Neither the office of the governor nor the deputy governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the state has received the said letter.”

The government added that its legal team is still waiting for a certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment.

It reassured that as soon as the governor receives the judgment, he will work to implement it in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.
