Rivers sole administrator Ibas appears before Senate over ₦1.48trn budget

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has appeared before the Senate for a crucial hearing on the proposed ₦1.48 trillion state budget.
Ibas, who was appointed to oversee the affairs of the state under the emergency rule directive, arrived at the National Assembly on Thursday, accompanied by members of the state’s economic team and other top government officials.
The delegation was received by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State, which is responsible for scrutinizing the budget proposal amid the ongoing political and administrative transition in the state.
The Senate had weeks ago reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the people of Rivers State were not shortchanged following the declaration of emergency rule by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025.
