RMAFC unravel monthly earnings of Nigerian Senators
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has disclosed the monthly earnings of Nigerian Senators, revealing that each of the 109 lawmakers in the Senate earns a total of **₦1,063,860** in salary and allowances per month.
According to RMAFC Chairman, M. B. Shehu, the breakdown of these earnings includes both regular and non-regular allowances:
– **Basic Salary:** ₦168,866.70
– **Motor Vehicle Fuelling and Maintenance Allowance:** ₦126,650.00
– **Personal Assistant Allowance:** ₦42,216.66
– **Domestic Staff Allowance:** ₦126,650.00
– **Entertainment Allowance:** ₦50,660.00
– **Utilities Allowance:** ₦50,660.00
– **Newspapers/Periodicals Allowance:** ₦25,330.00
– **Wardrobe Allowance:** ₦42,216.66
– **House Maintenance Allowance:** ₦8,443.33
– **Constituency Allowance:** ₦422,166.66
The commission noted that while some allowances are received regularly, others are categorized as non-regular.
The statement reads:
“Regular allowances are paid regularly with basic salary, while non-regular allowances are paid as when due.
“For instance, Furniture allowance (N6,079,200:00) and Severance Gratuity (N6,079,200:00) are paid once in every tenure and Vehicle allowance (N8,105,600:00) which is optional is a loan which the beneficiary has to pay before leaving office,” he added.
He further disclosed that aside from the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his vice, the senate president, and speaker of the House of Representatives, all public and legislative officers are no longer provided with housing, as was the case in the past.
