In a tragic incident that has left the community in shock, six members of a single family have been found dead in Obehie, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

The discovery was made by neighbors on Wednesday in the Isi Obehie area, causing widespread mourning among residents.

While the official cause of death has not yet been established, a source within the community suggested that the family might have died from inhaling generator fumes. The incident highlights the dangers associated with improper generator use, a common issue in areas facing electricity challenges.

There are also claims that the victims died as a result of a ‘spiritual attack’.

The community source further revealed that three children, their mother, the mother’s sister and her brother in-law died in the incident.

According to him, the father, who was away from home at the period of the incident, is the only surviving member of the household.

The source claimed that the victims were natives of another local government of Abia but have been residing in Obehie, before their tragic death.

The identities of the victims have not been made known but the spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed to DAILY POST that the Command has received the report of the incident.

Chinaka said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the deaths.

“We got such report, investigation is ongoing to unveil the cause of death”, the Police spokesperson told News360 Nigeria.
