BREAKING: Soldiers occupy major Abuja roads ahead of planned hunger protest

Commuters on the Keffi-Abuja expressway faced significant delays on Monday after military officers set up a roadblock for a stop-and-search operation on vehicles entering Abuja.

The roadblock, located at Sani Abacha Barracks before the AYA roundabout, caused a traffic jam extending over 12 kilometers to Nyanya Bridge.

With no prior warning from security agencies, civil servants and traders commuting to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from areas like Nyanya, Karu, Maraba, and Masaka were left stranded.

Many eventually returned home after hours of being stuck in the gridlock.

This comes just days before a planned nationwide protest from August 1 against rising living costs and economic hardship in Nigeria.
