Nigerian singer and comedian, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail following his arrest for alleged cyberstalking.

The arrest stemmed from a petition filed by fellow musician Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu.

Darlington, who was detained by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Abuja, was released after meeting the stipulated bail conditions. His release was facilitated by lawyer Deji Adeyanju on Tuesday.

Reports reveal that Speed Darlington was arrested last Friday in Lagos before being transferred to various police formations, eventually landing at the IRT office in Abuja. Adeyanju, who reviewed Burna Boy’s petition, commented that there was no substantial evidence to justify Darlington’s arrest.

This development marks the latest chapter in a controversial feud between the two artists, further fueled by their public online exchanges.

“I have met Speed Darlington and he’s in good spirits, we are working to get him released on bail as soon as possible,” Adeyanju told News360 Nigeria earlier on Tuesday.

A police ACP investigating the case told Adeyanju that the police could not release a copy of the petition to him but allowed the lawyer read and digest the content.
