Speeding jeep rams into Lagos minibus, injures driver, leaves passenger unconscious

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in collaboration with the Lagos Police Command has rescued two individuals following a car crash near Ikota School in Ajah, Lagos.
In a statement issued on Thursday, LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq revealed that the accident was triggered by excessive speeding.
A Ford Jeep reportedly lost control and rammed into a moving public transit vehicle.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the bus. According to Taofiq, the driver suffered a badly fractured right arm and slipped into a coma.
Additionally, one passenger experienced intense nose bleeding and lost consciousness at the scene.
“The accident involved a white Ford Jeep with registration number: KWL 574 CY and a fully occupied commercial mini-bus with plate number: FST 207 YK.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the Ford Jeep, while allegedly travelling at a dangerously high speed, lost control of the vehicle and violently rammed into the moving commercial mini-bus.
“The resulting impact left the mini-bus extensively damaged.
“Regrettably, the bus driver slipped into a coma after suffering a severe fracture to his right arm, while a passenger aboard the vehicle sustained intense nasal hemorrhaging and was rendered unconscious at the scene,” the statement partly read.
The spokesperson confirmed that the traffic agency responded quickly and efficiently at the accident scene by evacuating the victims to a nearby hospital and securing the crash site to keep traffic moving smoothly.
Taofiq noted that LASTMA was supported by officers from the Ajiwe Divisional Police Headquarters, who provided important security during the operation.
