Step down for transparent probe into Natasha’s claim – Saraki to Akpabio

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the ongoing dispute between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The controversy began after a recent seat rearrangement in the Senate, which Akpoti-Uduaghan strongly opposed, claiming it was an attempt to silence her. The situation escalated when she accused Akpabio of making inappropriate advances towards her, both in his office and at his residence in Akwa Ibom.
Her allegations have sparked widespread reactions, including a lawsuit filed against her by Ekaette Akpabio, the Senate President’s wife. Many prominent figures have since demanded an official probe into the matter.
Saraki, in a social media post, urged the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions to investigate the claims, emphasizing that both parties must fully cooperate. He cited a similar situation during his tenure when he personally appeared before the committee to address allegations against him regarding an official vehicle.
According to Saraki, “The due process should be followed in this case, such that where anybody is found to have committed any wrong, the wrong should be pointed out and corrected.”
He advised the Senate leadership to ensure fairness and transparency in handling the matter, stressing that an open investigation would help maintain public trust in the institution.
