Stop ‘Playing God’ – Pastor Tunde Bakare warns Tinubu

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to lead with humility, warning that his current style of governance is pushing the country in the wrong direction.
Speaking during a state of the nation address on Sunday at the church auditorium in Ikeja, Lagos, Bakare openly criticised the President and advised him to adopt a more modest approach.
“Stop playing God,” the clergyman said directly, adding that although he disagrees with Tinubu, he does not wish for him to fail.
According to him, “the current administration is steering the polity adrift,” and it is time for the government to return to a path of humility.
Bakare explained that his speech was not meant to attack anyone, but to offer direction to those in power for the good of the country.
He expressed concern that the legislative arm of government is weakening under the current leadership, describing it as a serious threat to democracy.
He also criticised the National Assembly’s decision to suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that the move appeared to be punishment for her demand for transparency and accountability.
Bakare urged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to explain the suspension and uphold democratic principles.
