Tanker explosion rocks Ibadan-Ife road, vehicles burnt
Scores of commuters narrowly escaped death on Saturday when a loaded petroleum tanker suddenly burst into flames at Ajia junction along the Ibadan-Ife Road, Ibadan.
Reports indicate that the tanker caught fire around 4:45 p.m. while the driver was attempting to switch lanes.
The fire quickly spread, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Among the vehicles destroyed were a mini truck, a commuter bus, a Micra car, a tricycle, and two motorcycles.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the incident caused significant panic and disruption for motorists along the busy road.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
