Taraba Gov’t House renamed T.Y. Danjuma House in honor of elder statesman
The Taraba State Government on Friday unveiled the newly remodelled and renamed Taraba Government House, now known as T.Y. Danjuma House.
The decision to rename the building was made in recognition of the significant contributions of General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, a former defense minister and elder statesman, to the state’s development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Alkali, who also served as the chairman of the organizing committee, explained that renaming the government house was a gesture of appreciation for Danjuma’s unwavering support and contributions to nation-building and Taraba’s progress.
“The decision to rename Taraba Government House as T.Y. Danjuma House is a testament to the elder statesman’s unparalleled contributions to the development of our state and the nation at large,” Alkali said.
In response, General Danjuma expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the honor would inspire him to do even more for Taraba.
He also called for unity across political, tribal, and religious lines, urging the people to support the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas in achieving its goals.
The renaming marks a milestone in the state’s history and celebrates the enduring legacy of one of its most distinguished sons.
