Teenage mum stabs her newborn baby after hiding pregnancy from parents in Anambra

A 19-year-old new mother and her newborn son are currently receiving medical care after a harrowing birth experience in Anambra State.
According to reports, the young lady, who had concealed her pregnancy from her family, went into labour on May 22 while alone at home.
After giving birth without assistance, she allegedly stabbed the baby in the throat and dumped him in a gutter.
A child in the neighbourhood reportedly witnessed the incident and raised an alarm, leading residents to rescue the injured baby and trace the teenage mother back to her home, where she was found bleeding heavily.
Both mother and child were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, as shared by Facebook user Chinenye Henrietta who posted details and video footage of the incident.
While some locals claimed the teenager deliberately attacked the baby in an attempt to get rid of him, others suggested it might have been an accident during an attempt to cut the placenta.
Witnesses alleged the girl might have injured herself in her private parts while handling the situation and unintentionally slashed the baby’s throat.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and both mother and child are reportedly receiving treatment.
