Tension as armed men abduct 5 in Abuja community, shoot APC chieftain
In the early hours of Monday, a group of kidnappers abducted five individuals from Yangoji, a community in the Kwali area council of the Federal Capital Territory.
Among their victims was Alhaji Musa Majaga, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), who sustained gunshot wounds during the harrowing incident.
A local resident, Abdullahi, reported that the incident occurred around 12:23 am. The kidnappers forcibly entered Majaga’s house by destroying the burglary windows, shot him, and abducted two of his children. Subsequently, they abducted three other neighbors from a nearby apartment.
A vigilante member explained that the kidnappers took advantage of the vigilantes’ lack of cartridges. “They struck after learning that vigilantes were short of cartridges. We haven’t had any kidnapper attacks in the past five months here in Yangoji,” he said.
Majaga, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, has been taken to a private hospital in Gwagwalada for treatment.
The FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, was contacted for a statement but had not responded at the time of reporting.
