Three rescued as Taskforce engage in gun battle with kidnappers in Abuja

A joint security team has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims a woman, her daughter, and another resident following an intense shootout with their abductors at Gudunkarya forest, along the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State border.

The victims were abducted early Wednesday when armed men attacked Alhaji Gwandara settlement in Dafara, Kuje Area Council, taking the victims at gunpoint.

A relative of the victims, Modu Alkali, confirmed their rescue on Thursday, stating that a combined security force, including soldiers, the police anti-kidnapping unit, hunters, and vigilantes, stormed the kidnappers’ hideout, leading to a successful operation.

He said, “After a heavy shootout with a joint security team, the kidnappers fled and abandoned the victims.”

The Chairman of the Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the FCT, Ibrahim Ardo, also confirmed the successful rescue. He commended the security operatives for their swift intervention, ensuring the victims were safely recovered.

Meanwhile, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT police command, stated that she would verify the situation and provide further details.
