President Bola Tinubu has ordered the swift evacuation of residents from flood-affected areas in Maiduguri, Borno State, expressing deep concern over the devastation caused by recent severe flooding.

The flooding, considered one of the worst in decades, has displaced thousands and impacted key facilities, including the Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the Post Office.

In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the state and families affected by the disaster, which was triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

The President also assured Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of federal collaboration to address the humanitarian crisis.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been tasked with assisting the flood victims, and Tinubu emphasized the federal government’s commitment to mobilizing resources to support Borno during this challenging time.
