Tinubu must be allowed to govern Nigeria beyond 2027 – NBTE Boss

The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Idris Bugaje, has openly called for the continuation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration beyond the 2027 general elections.
Bugaje made the statement on Friday in Abuja during the official launch of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative at the TETFUND Auditorium, an event attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, and other key stakeholders.
Speaking passionately about the government’s focus on critical sectors, especially education, Bugaje said, “These are critical sectors that the government is committed to, and that is why I am saying that we must allow this government to continue for another six years.”
His remarks come just a week after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) formally endorsed President Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, had made the announcement during the APC national summit in Abuja, describing it as a reaffirmation of the president’s leadership and performance.
Ganduje declared, “As the chairman of the party and on behalf of the National Working Committee—the only recognised platform, I hereby affirm the various endorsements and declare President Bola Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the APC.”
At the same summit, which doubled as a celebration of Tinubu’s two years in office, APC leaders and cabinet members praised the president’s performance despite growing criticism over the harsh economic realities brought about by policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also voiced his support for the president’s reelection bid, saying, “If this president has done well, is it not we (National Assembly) that will say so? If he has not done well, is it not we who will give him notice of impeachment? We are not giving him notice of impeachment, we are giving him notice that it was difficult for you in 2023, but in 2027, I see everything turning around.”
The endorsement from NBTE’s executive secretary further strengthens the growing calls within the ruling party for Tinubu’s continuity in office, signaling a solidifying political front ahead of the 2027 elections.
