Tinubu names Rotimi Akinde, Ifeoma Uz’Okpala as Executive Directors BoI

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Rotimi Akinde and Ifeoma Uz’Okpala as Executive Directors (EDs) on the Board of the Bank of Industry (BoI).

The appointments, which were announced by Theodora Amechi, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit at the BoI, took effect on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Rotimi Akinde has been named the Executive Director of Corporate Finance & Risk Management. With over 20 years of experience in Investment and Corporate Banking, Akinde brings a wealth of expertise in areas such as capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance. His previous role was as an Associate Partner at Infrastructure Delivery International (IDI), focusing on green finance and structured debt solutions. Akinde’s distinguished career includes positions at UBA Plc, United Capital, and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE). He is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, the University of Reading, and INSEAD.

Ifeoma Uz’Okpala has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Large Enterprises Directorate. Uz’Okpala joined the BoI in 2014 and previously served as the Chief Risk Officer, where she was instrumental in managing risks and advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. With over 30 years in the financial sector, her career has included significant roles at International Merchant Bank, MBC International, First Bank, Stanbic Bank, and UBA. Uz’Okpala is a graduate of the University of Nigeria and the Lagos Business School, and she holds several professional memberships, including Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA).

These appointments underscore the ongoing efforts to bolster the leadership and operational capacity of the Bank of Industry, as it continues to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economic development.
