President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Sunday, January 26, 2025, for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to attend the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit, scheduled for January 27–28, 2025.

The summit, hosted by Tanzania in partnership with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank, aims to advance “Mission 300,” an ambitious initiative to ensure electricity access for 300 million Africans by 2030.

Key participants will include African leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, and civil society organizations.

Discussions will center on improving energy access, promoting renewable energy, enhancing energy efficiency, and attracting private sector investments to the sector.

On the first day, ministers from participating countries, including Nigeria, will present their national energy compacts, detailing strategies to achieve universal energy access within five years.

The second day will see Heads of State endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, outlining a united plan for achieving the objectives of Mission 300.

President Tinubu is expected to deliver a national address, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to universal energy access and showcasing the country’s clean energy initiatives and contributions to Africa’s integrated energy goals.

Accompanying the President will be a high-level delegation, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; and Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, among other senior government officials.

President Tinubu will return to Abuja after the conclusion of the summit.
