President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally transmitted a budget proposal of ₦1.48 trillion for Rivers State to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.

The proposal, which became necessary following the nullification of the 2025 budget of the state by the Supreme Court and the imposition of emergency rule, was sent to the federal legislature on Thursday.

According to the details, ₦324 billion has been earmarked for infrastructure development, while ₦166 billion will go to the health sector. Education is allocated ₦75.6 billion, and ₦31.4 billion is set aside for agricultural programmes.

President Tinubu noted that the agricultural component of the budget is projected to create around 6,000 new jobs in the state.

He urged lawmakers to urgently consider and pass the appropriation bill in the interest of the state’s residents and the overall stability of the region.
