Tottenham set to name Thomas Frank as new manager

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of naming Thomas Frank as its new head coach following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations between Spurs and Frank have moved swiftly, with both sides already agreeing on personal terms and provisions for Frank’s backroom staff.
Brentford, Frank’s current employers, are expected to release him after Tottenham agreed to meet his £10 million release clause — a figure stipulated in the Danish coach’s contract.
This managerial shift comes in the wake of Postecoglou’s sudden sacking last Friday.
Despite guiding Spurs to a historic UEFA Europa League triumph — their first major trophy in 17 years — the Australian manager was shown the door after a disappointing domestic league performance.
Despite the European success, chairman Daniel Levy was reportedly unimpressed with the team’s domestic performance, which saw Spurs finish 17th in the Premier League.
The club suffered 22 defeats, and the disappointing results ultimately outweighed the club’s continental achievements in Levy’s eyes.
Frank has earned a reputation as one of the most tactically astute and respected managers in English football.
Since taking charge at Brentford, the Dane has overseen their promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and has managed to keep them clear of relegation worries, finishing 10th in the English top flight in the 2024-25 campaign.
