Tragedy as truck rams into house, kill nine family members in Benue

A devastating accident occurred in Okete, a serene community in the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, as a truck ploughed into a residential building, killing nine family members.

The incident, which took place around 5 a.m. on Thursday, reportedly happened while the family was asleep. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the truck suffered a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the roadside building.

“The crash caused a loud noise that woke up the neighbors,” an eyewitness recounted.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the tragedy. Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson, stated:
“The truck rammed into a residential building, killing nine members of the family. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.”

She further assured that the police had launched a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crash and promised to provide additional details as the investigation progresses.
