Several lives are feared lost following a brutal assault on Emichi village in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants stormed the village around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, opening fire on residents without warning.
Panic quickly spread as villagers fled in different directions in a desperate bid to escape the chaos.
At the time of the attack, no security operatives were reportedly present to repel the invaders or protect the community.
The incident is coming barely 24 hours after 11 persons were gruesomely killed in Otobi-Akpa by suspected herdsmen.
