Train crushes 50-year-old man to death in Lagos
Tragedy struck in the Oshodi area of Lagos on Saturday when a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, was crushed to death by a moving train near Arena Shopping Mall.
The victim’s sister, who was notified of the incident by phone around 9 a.m., confirmed her brother’s fatal accident. The police were alerted at around 1:33 p.m., and a team of detectives from the Mosafejo Division was dispatched to the scene. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the police visited and photographed the scene, and the body was taken to a public morgue for an autopsy.
The case has since been transferred to the Railway Police Command in Ebute Metta for further investigation. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear, although similar incidents have occurred in Lagos, including one in August where a man was also crushed by a train while walking along railway tracks in Mushin.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency had confirmed in that previous incident that the victim died instantly due to severe injuries from the impact.
