In the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie, PAOK emerged victorious against Bosnian team Borac Banja Luka with a 3-2 scoreline, thanks to the winning goal scored by Williams Troost-Ekong.

The match also marked the centre-back’s return to competitive football since his previous appearance in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final game against hosts Cote d’ivoire.

Troost-Ekong was sidelined for around five months due to injury.

The centre-back sustained the injury at AFCON 2023.

With the game tied at 2-2, Troost-Ekong fired home the winning goal in the 51st minute.

The reverse tie will be played on Wednesday, July 31.

The winner over the two legs will advance to the third round of the competition.
