Trump rules out Pompeo, Haley for new administration roles
President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he would not reappoint Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State, or Nikki Haley, former UN Ambassador, to positions in his incoming administration.
The statement came amid speculation about who would join Trump’s new team.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed gratitude for their prior service but confirmed he would not be inviting them back. Pompeo had earlier presented a hardline approach to Ukraine, which contrasted with Trump’s campaign promises to resolve the conflict swiftly and reduce U.S. involvement.
Haley, who had challenged Trump in this year’s Republican primary before ultimately endorsing him, had provided candid advice during her campaign, including telling Trump to “quit whining” about opponent Kamala Harris. Despite previous collaborations, it appears that Trump’s new cabinet will take a different direction.
So far, Trump has announced one key appointment: his campaign manager, Susie Wiles, who will serve as White House chief of staff. Wiles, nicknamed “ice baby” by Trump for her composed demeanor, is the first woman to hold this vital position under his leadership.
