A two-storey building collapsed early Thursday morning in Nomansland, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, killing two people and leaving two others injured.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. following heavy rainfall that caused a nearby waterway to overflow, weakening the structure.

The Kano State Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing.

“Two persons have been rescued and taken to the hospital, while two others have been confirmed dead,” Abdullahi stated.

The collapse comes amid severe flooding in Kano State, which has already claimed 31 lives and destroyed over 5,280 homes, according to the Kano State Emergency Management Agency.
