Christian Pulisic has been ruled out of AC Milan’s Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade due to a calf injury, the club confirmed on Monday.

The USA international sustained an injury to the soleus muscle in his right calf during Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Atalanta on Friday.

Forced off in the first half, Pulisic’s condition will be reassessed in a week, according to the club.

The injury also sidelines him for Milan’s Serie A match against Genoa on Sunday.

Pulisic has been instrumental for Milan this season, contributing eight goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions under coach Paulo Fonseca.

Milan, who are 12 points behind Atalanta in Serie A following Friday’s defeat, sit 16th in the Champions League with three wins from their last three matches in the competition.
