Ruud van Nistelrooy’s managerial debut for Leicester City ended in a promising 3-1 victory over West Ham, bringing renewed optimism to the King Power Stadium.

The Dutchman, appointed just days ago to replace Steve Cooper, saw his side bounce back from a humbling 4-1 loss to Brentford with a spirited performance.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring early, setting the tone for a much-needed win that lifted Leicester to 15th place in the Premier League, just two points behind West Ham. Reflecting on the result, Van Nistelrooy, 48, emphasized the importance of the three points.

“In the position we are in, it’s vital. We know every game in the Premier League demands perfection. There’s a lot to improve—defense, counter-attacks, possession—but I’m happy with the win,” he said.

Van Nistelrooy described his first days at Leicester as intense but rewarding, adding, “It’s been busy getting to know everyone. It was long days, but worth it. Tonight, I’ll get a little beer and reflect.”

Graham Potter, former Brighton and Chelsea manager, praised the win as a “perfect start,” emphasizing the importance of belief in a new manager. “The best way to build trust is by winning,” Potter told Amazon Prime.

The win has given Leicester fans hope that Van Nistelrooy’s leadership could spark a turnaround in their Premier League campaign.
