Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed his joy after making his UEFA Champions League debut for Bayer Leverkusen in their commanding 4-0 victory over Feyenoord on Thursday night.

Boniface, who featured for 62 minutes before being substituted by Patrick Schick, reflected on the special moment, recalling his humble beginnings in Akure, Nigeria.

He shared that he once paid just 30 naira to watch Champions League matches at the 323 Army Barracks, making his debut all the more meaningful.

“From paying 30 Naira to watch champions league football for night back then for 323 army barrack Akure to playing my first champions league game. Proud of this moment,” he wrote on X.
