Victor Osimhen opens up about his decision to join Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker, has revealed that his late summer move to Galatasaray was a personal decision.
Speaking to Turkish media outlet TRT Spor, Osimhen explained that while he had the option to remain at Napoli despite the challenges, he ultimately chose to move to the Turkish Super Lig.
He emphasized that the decision was one that he felt was most favorable for his career at this time.
Osimhen’s transfer has been a topic of interest, with fans eager to see how he will perform with the Turkish football giants.
“I had plans to stay there and wait for three or four months, and leave in January, but I think for me, it was fair also to stay there because I wouldn’t let anyone decide for me,” he said.
The Nigerian international stated that he eventually joined Galatasaray because the manager, Okan Buruk was able to convince him via the phone.
“When I received the call from the Galatasaray coach, it was really convincing.
“He said what he wanted to do this season, and what he wanted to achieve. I could see what he had set for himself as a man, a coach, and a father,” he noted.
The former Lille player emphasised that he believes in the project, adding that the squad is perfect for him with the quality of players available.
“I think I fit in this plan, and coming to a team with already a lot of quality players with great ambition, as a footballer it was easy to come.”
Osimhen has scored two goals thus far for Buruk’s side, and is currently out injured.
