Vlahovic shines as Juventus secure 3-0 victory over Verona
Dusan Vlahovic scored twice as Juventus secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Verona on Monday, marking their second straight win in the Serie A season.
The victory keeps Juventus at the top of the early standings, the only team with a perfect record after two matches.
Juventus, under the new leadership of head coach Thiago Motta who took over after Massimiliano Allegri’s controversial departure aims to reclaim the Scudetto, a title they haven’t won since the 2019/20 season.
Last season, Juventus finished third in Serie A, their highest placement in four years, but they are determined to improve this season.
Vlahovic opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, setting the tone for the match. Nicolo Savona, a 21-year-old defender making his full debut, doubled the lead before halftime with a header from a Samuel Mbangula cross.
Mbangula, recently promoted from the youth team, has made an immediate impact with a goal and two assists in his first two senior appearances.
Vlahovic sealed the victory with a penalty early in the second half, ensuring Juventus took all three points.
The team now looks ahead to a challenging fixture against Roma on Sunday, which could be their biggest test in the early part of the season.
