Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the former Regional Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Region 20, has opted to resign from his pastoral position.

The ruling came after Pastor Iluyomade declined a three-month suspension and a transfer to another parish in Ebute Meta, displaying a strong stance on his ideas and convictions.

While his resignation has been submitted to the RCCG governing council, it awaits acceptance, given the ongoing suspension. The council’s meeting, slated for August, coincides with the end of his suspension, paving the way for formal deliberations on his resignation. RCCG has established procedures for pastors in his position, ensuring a systematic transition.

Amidst these developments, there’s a groundswell of support within RCCG City of David for Pastor Iluyomade to embark on his own ministry journey. Notably, the influential Apapa Family within RCCG is reportedly facilitating efforts to assist Pastor Iluyomade in establishing his ministry.

Known for their involvement in philanthropic endeavors and collaborations with governmental and public sector entities, the Apapa Family’s backing adds weight to Pastor Iluyomade’s potential venture.

However, questions linger about the motives behind these actions, reminiscent of past instances where influential figures influenced pastors to resign and start their ministries. Only time will reveal the true intentions behind these endeavors.

This decision marks a significant turning point in Pastor Iluyomade’s journey, following his transfer from RCCG Region 20 amidst controversies surrounding the celebration of his wife’s birthday during a period of mourning for Herbert Wigwe, the former CEO of Access Bank.

As Pastor Iluyomade embarks on this new chapter, his journey is bound to inspire and provoke reflection within the RCCG community and beyond, emphasizing the complexities and challenges inherent in spiritual leadership and institutional dynamics.
