Wike, G5 allies visits Tinubu in Aso Rock

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday evening met with key opposition figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in what many observers believe signals early political moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The closed-door meeting, which took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, was reportedly convened by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and included some of his closest political associates.
Among those in attendance were former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose and two members of the defunct G5 group, former governors Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
It will be recalled that the G5 governors, led by Wike during the 2023 polls, broke ranks with the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, throwing their weight behind Tinubu’s candidacy under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the elections, Tinubu appointed Wike as Minister of the FCT in a move that surprised many.
Though the exact details of the Saturday meeting remain undisclosed, sources hinted that discussions centred on strengthening alliances, exploring future political collaboration, and integrating former PDP leaders into the APC’s broader political strategy ahead of the next electoral cycle.
