Woman arraigned for setting husband ablaze in Kano

A married woman has been arraigned in a Kano court for allegedly setting her husband on fire following a heated dispute over his new wife.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred while the husband was in the room of his newly wedded spouse.

According to sources, the accused confronted her husband, demanding that he come out of the room. When he refused, she allegedly resorted to pouring petrol on him and setting him ablaze, resulting in severe burns.

The prosecuting counsel, Saima Garba, charged the woman with attempted murder before Magistrate Court No. 25. However, she pleaded not guilty.

Presiding Judge Halima Wali ordered her remand in prison custody and adjourned the case for two weeks.
