A tragic incident has shaken Ikeduru Local Government Area in Imo State, as 27-year-old Oluchi Nzemechi is now in police custody for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Kelechi Nzemechi, to death after a disagreement over the sharing formula of proceeds from their internet scam, commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”

According to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Henry Okoye, Oluchi admitted to the crime.

It was revealed that Kelechi had lured her into cybercrime, and together they defrauded an Indonesian individual of 250 million rupiah.

Tensions escalated during discussions about how to divide the ill-gotten gains, resulting in a fatal argument between the couple. Oluchi allegedly stabbed Kelechi with a kitchen knife during the altercation.

In a shocking twist, Oluchi reportedly attempted to frame the crime scene by leaving a note beside Kelechi’s lifeless body, implying revenge from unidentified associates in the criminal underworld.

The note read, “You think you can eat my money and go free? I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child, including your family.”

Further investigation revealed that Oluchi and Kelechi had been living together since 2019 and had a child together. The police assured the public that necessary measures were being taken to recover the alleged 250 million Indonesian Rupiah for potential return to the victim.

Oluchi is currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will face legal proceedings for her alleged involvement in the crime.

This tragic incident underscores the dangers and consequences associated with criminal activities, highlighting the need for law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant in combating cybercrime and protecting citizens from such illicit schemes.
