The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old woman, Fatimah Ibrahim, over the alleged abuse of a 12-year-old boy in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the incident was reported on March 1, 2025, at about 2:00pm.

A concerned resident informed the Divisional Police Headquarters in Azare about the matter, which involved a young Arabic school pupil identified as Abubakar Yakubu (not his real name), who had been assisting the suspect with her business.

Investigations revealed that the boy had been staying at the suspect’s residence, where he was allegedly subjected to improper acts over a period of two months.

In his statement to authorities, the boy explained that he was taken advantage of whenever no other visitors were around.

He also mentioned being given a mixture of lemon juice, which he suspected may have been tampered with, before these incidents occurred.

During police interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the act.

The command noted that investigations are still ongoing, and the suspect will be formally charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.

The Bauchi State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and bringing offenders to justice.
