Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his second term is guaranteed despite opposition efforts to unseat him in the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a special Iftar/Lent dinner organized by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja on Wednesday night, Akpabio expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure more elective positions across the country in the next general elections.

The event, which was hosted to foster unity among governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and top government officials, saw Akpabio commend the PGF, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, for its efforts in keeping party members united.

He urged party loyalists to work together to ensure APC’s continued dominance, saying, “Can we say amen! We will offer prayers for our party, that yes, indeed, victory shall be ours in 2027. Can we say a loud amen! And we will also pray for Mr. President that his second term is assured. Can we shout a loud amen!”

Akpabio also highlighted the party’s strength in the legislature, referencing the recent appointment of a senator to oversee Edo State affairs, saying it was a strategic move to further consolidate APC’s influence.

Governor Uzodinma emphasized that party members must work together to ensure the success of the government, stating, “The success of the government is our collective success. The failure of the government is our collective failure. And the government is like a product. All of us are marketing officers that must market this product.”

Finance Minister Wale Edun, who was also present, praised the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, insisting that inflation and the cost of living were improving due to the President’s bold decisions. He noted, “Inflation is down, food prices are coming down, energy prices are coming down, and the exchange rate is stable. These are the things that affect the cost of living that people are feeling.”

The dinner was attended by key political figures, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Monday Okpebholo, and Francis Nwifuru, former Governor Yahaya Bello, former SGF Boss Mustapha, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, House Leader Julius Ihonvbere, as well as party leaders and members of the APC National Working Committee.
